Update on Kubic 5/27/2021:
Unfortunately, the surgeries that Kubic has already had haven’t brung any visible improvements to his hurt muzzle. He was given several ablation surgeries, but still the tissue in his nose kept growing back and blocking his airway. He suddenly stopped breathing once again, and the decision was made to send him to a different surgeon in Moscow. Although there wasn’t much time to deliberate, we hope to see him in good health soon enough. We are still fundraising to help with these building up costs.
Thank you, dear friends, for helping us to help Kubic
Update on Kubic 5/24/2021:
Kubic just underwent through another surgery.
This poor boy has been through quite a bit. Since being found on the street with a torn up muzzle from a firecracker explosion, barely holding onto his life, he’s been brought to our branch in Volgograd. His road to recovery is going to be long and arduous, but he is finally getting the care that he needs.
After his first intensive surgery, he could breath normally for about a month, after which he was given laser and balloon ablation every two weeks. In this process, a laser was used to cut the excess tissue in his nasal passage, and after, he whistled like a boiling kettle. But once those ablations stopped working, he couldn’t breath through his nose at all.
We sent him to get surgery in Moscow, where it was decided to do a slightly different operation. They plan to insert a surgical stent, a tube like structure to keep a blocked passageway open, into the roof of his mouth. There still may be complications, but it’s our best bet. The operation is scheduled for tomorrow, and we’re hoping it’ll go smoothly and that Kubic will be alright.
He still has a long way to go, so we appreciate any and all support. We’ll be sure to keep you updated on his journey, so stick around.
Update on Kubic 4/2/2021:
Kubic had a second laser ablation procedure in his airway on March, 30 ( he is recommended 3 procedures with 3 weeks interval).
He is such a playful character, it turns out! Look at him playing in the forest with some sticks!
It’s becoming more hopeful, since his healing so far being progressing nicely, his pneumonia is completely cleared, his breathing is very much improved as well!
Huge thanks to all who follows Kubic’s story and his journey to recovery!
Thank you for helping the animals, like Kubic!

Kubic's update 3/17/2021:
The doctors performed a laser ablation operation yesterday. The excess tissue in his nasal passage was cut out with a laser. The airway was widened, and Kubic can breath much better now!
Kubic is back at his foster home, he will be resting there until his next check up in 2 weeks.
He also gained about 3 lb weight, since past month. That is really good news, since he recently had two surgeries, and pneumonia.
Update on Kubic 3/9/21:
Kubic’s pneumonia and cough cleared up. He feels relatively good! He goes on walks with his foster, eats well. The stitches were removed, but one of reconstructed nasal passages became narrower, as it’s getting filled with soft tissue. The doctors said they would do a procedure called laser ablation. The excess tissue will be cut with a laser. This procedure can be done later, possibly within next month (we do not have a date yet) after he is better rested. Otherwise without this correction, this condition prevents him from breathing normally.
Update on Kubic 2/11/2021:

He is running some fever and was diagnosed with pneumonia, and is undergoing treatment for that. He licked off his stitches, and they had to be reapplied. Kubic's Story (2/1/2021):
Kubic is such a sweet soul, in spite of human cruelty, he still loves people.
Someone had placed a firecracker in his mouth, he suffered from a firecracker explosion, and his nose and part of his lip were torn in pieces. A woman found him bleeding and brought him to the shelter. He breathed heavily and constantly licked his nose. Fortunately, he still was able to eat and drink on his own, in spite of this this painful trauma. It was decided to take him from Volgograd to Moscow for a plastic surgery, in order to restore his lips and nose.
After arrived to Moscow two weeks back, his blood work was not good, and the surgery had to be postponed. First they had to address his anemia. Kubic was receiving the treatment for two weeks, and after the blood work results improved, he was admitted to Surgery on January, 30. He underwent plastic surgery, had a nose and a lip reconstructed using his own tissues. The surgery went well. Luckily, his jaws were not affected by the accident, and only soft tissues needed restoration. Currently Kubic is resting at the surgery center, and we will expect more news and info on when he can be released.
We are fundraising to cover the surgery and medical treatment.
The all volunteer run shelter in Volgograd, Russia is now full – more than 1000 cats and dogs live there at the moment, many sick, old, disabled. Their shelter has no help other than donations made by caring people.
