Little Walter has been in a lot of pain in his short life and had little reasons to trust the world around him. But thanks to many kind-hearted people on his way he was able to heal his physical wounds and has gone through a wonderful transformation from shy and scared into playful and affectionate. Please help him continue building trust in the world around him and show him love that he deserves so much.
Walter was brought to San Jose Animal Care Center with a degloved chin, knuckling front leg and URI (upper respiratory infection). He spent seven days in a shelter on pain medications almost not eating and he was about to be euthanized when we were able to rescue him, putting together a fantastic team of vets and a medical foster. Walter had surgery to reattach a skin on his chin (which now healed beautifully), he is no longer limping and doesn’t need any special medical treatments.
He is now a sweet eating and playing machine whose personality emerges more every day. His favorite toys are Fuzzy Sticks and boxes of any kind. He likes curling up in the front pocket of his foster’s hoody. His favorite treat is Churu. He is still getting used to the idea that he can eat as much as he wants any time without pain or risk of being attacked (so he is very protective of his bowl and doesn’t allow other kittens to approach during dinner time).
Walter is one special little guy, a little shy at first sight of new humans, but once he is comfortable he becomes a purring little love. He may take some time to win over, but that makes it even more gratifying when he sits in your lap or comes for snuggles for the first time. Someone who makes him a part of their family and gains his trust will be extremely lucky to have this sweetheart around.
Please call. Walter is longing to be loved and spoiled. We would prefer Walter to be adopted in a home with another young cat or with one of his foster play buddies (learn why two kittens are better than one), but we’ll consider other responsible applicants as well. The happiness and quality of life for our kittens is our top priority.
He will leave to a new home neutered, microchipped, dewormed, treated from fleas, vaccinated to age. He is fostered in San Jose by our volunteer with 3 other kittens, they’re all getting a lot of individual attention and are well socialized.
If you would like to meet Walter and make him part of your family please familiarize yourself with our Adoption Process and fill out Adoption application (one application for several kittens is enough if adopted with a buddy).
