This tiny newborn kitten was found in a car engine with visible head trauma. Thankfully a police officer was able to get her rushed to the closest pet hospital to receive the treatment she urgently needed to live another day. It was then that we learned it needed lots of extra help and we decided to bring it into our rescue. Raising such a young kitten without a momma kitty is incredibly tough and unfortunately many kittens don’t survive the transition.
Luckily for this baby, we had just rescued a friendly momma cat and her four (2 week old) babies! We decided to take a chance and rescue this tiny one as well in hopes that this new momma cat would become her surrogate. Momma cat initially rejected the new foster so we contemplated hand-raising her (on a bottle) which would require a lot more work for the rescue to keep this baby alive. Thankfully after a bit more time, momma cat warmed up to her new addition quite nicely and lovingly accepted her into the family.
In rescue we’re not always lucky enough to get such a great surrogate match and hand-raising newborns requires lots of time, energy and equipment we don’t have.
One such piece of equipment that we are in dire need of are life saving incubators. These incubators act as temperature regulators, humidity controllers, and can also be used as nebulizers for kittens with severe upper respiratory infections. They are many times the difference between life and death for these vulnerable kittens.
We realized very recently that an incubator should be a staple in every rescue in order to increase kitten survival rates.
These kittens need your help and we can’t do it without you!! Please help us raise funds to acquire these life saving incubators that our tiny, vulnerable neonate kittens so desperately need.
The kittens thank you!
