Knox is doing first steps on his own!!!

Knox is doing first steps!!! For now only in a pool, but on his own! He’s been though a lot since he was hit by a car. He was near death when he was found, with multiple injures and internal wounds. We didn’t think he would survive the fist 2 days after that. But he did!

Then went though a spinal surgery and multiple physical- and hydro- therapy courses and finally we see first results!

“He tries really hard” – his physicians say – “He puffs and pants, but keeps trying to do the steps. A true achiever!”. He is also super sweet with everybody he encounters and the staff adores him

We are really happy Knox got a second chance at life and grateful to everybody who cared and supported him so far.

Please don’t give up now, every 10 day hydro-therapy course costs around $550 and he will still need a few more. Don’t lose hope, dear friends!

Update on Knox 6/7/2021:

Knox is working hard, his exercise plan now includes underwater treadmill. He tries to walk very hard. So far, we were told, the improvements are minimal, but the therapist still suggest to continue. Little Knox is working on more newly prescribed exercises. This is getting quite costly, but still a slim chance for a miracle that he can walk keeps us hopeful.

Knox is incredibly sweet, and loving. We believe He deserves a chance to a better life. He is in very caring hands, we are not loosing hope for him..

Update on Knox 4/28/2021:

Knox is working very hard, having PT sessions twice a day. So far he has not regained control of back legs, he can stand and keep his weight for short time only. Knox is incredibly sweet, and loving, he is not progressing as we were hoping for, but after consultations with several PT professionals, we will keep trying. He deserves a chance to a better life. He is in very caring hands, we are not loosing hope for him..

Update on Knox 4/16/2021:

Little Knox was rescued after hit by a car. It was determined that he had spine injury in a few places, lung contusion, brain injury, his eye looked injured. He was in such a bad condition, so it was not initially expected he would even survive a night. After a spinal surgery on March 19, Knox been recovering. It took a while, due to multiple injuries besides the spinal fracture. Also, for the past three weeks Knox being working really hard with Physical Therapists, exercising to gain more strength. So far there is not much progress, only small steps. Knox has an appointment soon with a specialist, to determine, whether PT will help. There is still hope, that after a long term therapy, he can use his back legs. We are not loosing hope, and will keep you posted on Knox’s progress.
Thank you, our Dear Friends for all the help, donations and support!

Knox's original story (3/19/2021)

Little Knox was hit by a car. He lived in a village far from the city of Volgograd, and someone called a rescue, after noticing a hurt dog. We are not sure how long he was hit and did not have any help. There are no veterinarians in the area. He was taken to the clinic in Volgograd, and it was determined that he had spine injury in a few places, lung contusion, brain injury, his eye looked injured.

Spinal surgeries are not performed in Volgorgrad, so a decision had to be made, whether to try to give Knox a chance. Since he was suffering, and in so much pain, his rescuers had decided to transport him to Moscow. Knox was taken there 2 days ago, underwent CT and MRI scans at the specialty clinic. After the scans results came in, it was decided that he can be operated. Yesterday the doctors completed his surgery. Knox came out of anesthesia, and we heard he even licked some food on his own. We are waiting for more updates on his condition.

We are hoping to help Knox to reduce his suffering as much as we can, and hopefully heal nicely after the surgery. We do not know, if he will be able to walk yet, it is too early to tell. The shelter that helps Knox is completely out of funds, since they have over 1300 animals under their care. We are seeking to help them with costs for Knox’s care.

🙏 We can’t do it without you, kind-hearted people who support us in this. Please consider donating as much you can. Also, please help us spread the word by sharing this post and telling your friends and family about our organization. 🙏
