Animals always been part of my life, and considered family members since I was little. I can’t look at them differently, they are amazing, loving, sensitive companions. They depend and trust us so unconditionally, that it’s impossible not to love them back. I love them all, and it’s been a pleasure to be part of their life, or at least been able to help them.
Ever since I was a little girl, animals have always been a very important part of my life. I grew up with two German Shepards who belonged to my grandfather. I remember being so mesmerized by how well behaved and trained they were around people outside and inside the house. I always told myself that one day I will have my own German Shepard.
Growing up in Ukraine my parents never allowed me to have a pet of my own in my apartment, so I would spend hours outside watching feral cats and dogs strolling around me. I had a large, kid size doll stroller that I used to put kittens in and play with them outside. All I wanted is to cuddle those kittens and spend time with them. I always found myself feeding animals on the streets and helping injured ones. I was very compassionate towards these animals and that same compassion still lives with me today.
I have always wanted to be involved with animals at various levels. Whether it is stopping animal abuse or ending animal homelessness, I find myself going the extra mile to ensure animals are protected. During my free time I volunteer at the local shelter and now I joined this rescue to help fulfill my goals and help homeless animals find loving homes. In the end, we are responsible for these animals and their well being.
I have three dogs and a cat at home, all of them are rescues and were adopted. Dolly, chihuahua mix, Jessie – a corgi, Bella – a Tripaw (3 legged dog) German Shepherd mix and Kleopa the cat. They are all girls and get along happily. As my husband always jokes, “Stop by our house (aka the local petting zoo) to meet our lovely animals. Admission is free.”
Save a life – adopt a homeless animal in need.
I brought my first rescue home when I was in first grade – it was a pigeon with a broken wing who successfully recovered and later raised chicks on our balcony. Since then there have been many rescue animals and, of course, pets of my own – guinea pigs, a hamster and a rabbit, white rats, a turtle, various fish, another pigeon, cats and dogs.
I’ve started volunteering with Angel’s Furry Friends Rescue as a foster for puppies, but quickly realized that my strongest passion is about underaged and special needs kittens – those who are at the highest risk of euthanazia in shelters.
So, I’ve started managing kittens rescue operations bringing together a team of fosters, veterinarians, bottle feeding and special needs experts, and great adopting families.
